The pelvic floor – at the core of our wellbeing

The training exercises target and improve

  • the functioning and strength of the pelvic floor as well as general posture
  • relaxation of the pelvic floor
  • bladder control
  • digestion
  • back-ache
  • physical awareness

The pelvic floor is partly responsible for our physical wellbeing, our posture, our figure and our entire appearance. Even in many young women the pelvic floor is too weak. This often lies in the individual constitution of connective tissue or happens after significant strain such as difficult or multiple births. It can lead to a prolapse of the uterus, vagina or bladder. Apart from the unpleasant pressure caused by a prolapse the most common symptoms of a weak pelvic floor are incontinence - both urinary and fecal.

During pelvic floor therapy sessions you will be given background information and shown practical exercises. Specific training will teach you how to strengthen the pelvic floor and create an awareness of how to avoid unnecessary strain in future. This will go a long way towards eliminating discomfort or reducing pain.

Classes are open to women of all ages (including postnatal from 8 weeks after birth)

We offer group exercise classes or individual sessions.

Medical aid top-up schemes will pay for part of the costs.
